Awi Sirasri Project: 2025 Impact Highlights

Awi Sirasri Project: 2025 Highlights In 2025, Facilitator for Change (FC) continued to drive lasting change for vulnerable children and families in the Awi Zone, Amhara Region, through the Awi Sirasri – Building a Better Future for Children project. Despite ongoing challenges including conflict-related school closures and market inflation, the project delivered integrated, community-driven interventions that strengthened child protection, education, livelihoods, and environmental resilience. Key results include mobilizing over 2.3 million Birr in capital through 64 women’s groups, equipping 1,359 farmers with climate-smart practices, and supporting 1,382 children to attend school—improving retention and reducing dropout and repetition rates. Child protection systems were reinforced through school clubs, child groups, and community training, preventing harmful practices such as forced marriage. Environmental rehabilitation efforts restored over 5 hectares of degraded land, reducing flood risks and generating new income from grass sales. Through local ownership and multi-sectoral programming, the project has laid a strong foundation for sustainable community resilience and child wellbeing.
