Activity Description:

The major project activities are

  • Enhancing agricultural production and productivity through organizing farmers into Farmers Learning Groups (FLGs), promoting improved agronomic practices, highland fruits, improved poultry farming, modern beekeeping small scale irrigation practices. The project will also strengthen existing cooperatives, develop local production and marketing structures, promote agroforestry practices, forage production and integrated soil fertility.
  • Improving incomes of landless young people and women from food-insecure households through Promoting access to savings & loans for vulnerable women, organizing landless youth in groups providing business skill training
  • Improving the local capacities for disaster risk reduction and the protection of natural resources through strengthening early-warning committees, protecting and rehabilitating degraded land, developing water sources

Target Beneficiaries: the project works with 700 poor women, 700 smallholder farmers, and 200 landless youth.
